Downtown Portland:
Public Transportation: Public Transportation: My office is on the Portland Transit Mall, on SW 5th Avenue, between Alder &
Washington Streets. You can also take MAX light rail. For the red and blue lines, get off at the Mall/SW 5th (or 4th) Avenue stop. For the yellow or green lines (opening September 2009), get off at SW 5th &
Morrison.
From the South: Coming into Portland on I-5, take the exit “Naito Parkway/City Center”(Exit 1A). This exit is located where I-5 splits for the Marquam
Bridge and I-405. Once on Naito Parkway, make a left turn onto any
street (which means you will be heading west), and then turn right on
SW 4th Avenue, and follow the directions to the parking garage below.
From the West: Coming into Portland on Hwy. 26, you take the SW Market Street exit and turn right on SW
4th Ave., to the parking garage mentioned below.
From the East: From I-84 take I-5 southbound. Immediately take
the Morrison Bridge/City Center exit into downtown. Turns left on SW
3rd Ave., and immediately get into the far-right lane. The parking
garage mentioned below is on your right.
From the North: On I-5 Southbound, take Morrison Bridge/City
Center exit as above.
Parking: There is a "Smart Park" parking garage which you can
enter from either SW 4th or SW 3rd, between Alder & Morrison streets,
which charges $1.25 per hour. This is approximately 2 blocks from my
office building. You can reach the garage by driving north on SW 4th
Avenue, or south on SW 3rd Avenue. These are one-way streets.
